Waves of Beauty - 4th International Women's Conference in Bali
4th International Women's Conference

The International Women’s Conference in Bali is organized by the International Association for Human values, the Ministry of Culture & Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia, Ved Vignan Maha Vidya Peeth and The Art of Living.
The preceding tree conferences held at The Art of Living International Center in Bangalore saw a beautiful blend of the best of the Orient and the Occident. Women leaders from rural and urban, from different spheres of life coming together to discuss and share on issues that mattered to them – education, leadership, the economy, family, governance and media. Women from over 75 countries participated in these Conferences.

The Light of Leadership
It all started when in June of 2005, Bhanumati Narasimhan, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s sister, held the first International Women’s Conference in Bangalore. Bhanumati and all our Indian sisters were very much inspired when Sri Sri said that »women have silent, quiet strength and power« and that »it will be women who will create lasting change in society«. They immediately decided to take up the challenge of an international conference themed »Shakti – the Strength of a Woman«.
Two years later, in June of 2007, the 2nd International Women’s Conference took place. The theme was »Celebrating Women« and this time about 25 women from Germany attended as well. It was then that we had the idea of organizing such an event in Germany, too.

Workshop The Light of Leadership in Berlin
The ambiance was perfect, the place wisely chosen: It almost seemed as though Berlin gleamed with innumerable lights not because it’s that time of the year again but rather on the occasion of »The Light of Leadership«. 40 women accepted the invitation to this conference themed »Women are the leaders of life – the healing power of female wisdom«. The conference was held at the Oberberg Stiftung Matthias Gottschaldt, an institution for holistic medicine that does research and also teaches »contagious« health education.
